大连的金州是一座有着一段历史的古城，金州名称，始于金代。至今还保留着金州副都统衙门遗址（是中国保存完整的清代二品八旗驻防军事衙门）。
金州又是一座有着传统的现代城市，这里出生了革命先驱关向应同志。关向应(1904——1946) 辽宁金州向应镇大关屯人，满族，中国无产阶级革命家。
金州湿地向应公园就是以关向应命名王震题字的公园。
